Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan is extremely excited because the official 800 trailer for his biographical film ‘800‘ was launched on Tuesday.

The legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and former Sri Lankan spin wizard Sanath Jayasuriya unveiled the official trailer in Mumbai.

He said, “I am very proud because they (Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya) came and launched it for me. And I also feel that this project has been in the works for the past 5 years and has now come to fruition. I hope people will enjoy this film,” Muralitharan told ANI.

Oscar-winning actor Madhur Mittal will be portraying the role of the great Sri Lankan spinner in this biopic. Directed and written by MS Sripathi, the film will be released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.

The trailer focuses on the untold story of Muttiah Muralitharan. It starts with flashbacks to events in Sri Lanka during the 1970s when Tamils, a minority community, were targeted, reflecting the challenges faced by the community at the time. We see a young man in a white cricket jersey kneeling before soldiers, yet proudly ending the voiceover by saying, “For someone who comes from a group of migrant laborers, it’s very difficult to establish an identity as a citizen.”

He holds the record for taking the most wickets in both Test and ODI formats and has an average of over six wickets per Test match.
