A fire erupted on a Train Accident Madurai Station in the yard area, engulfing a coach.
The fire has caused intense conditions inside the coach, which was carrying trainees from labor ashrams, and arrangements are being made for their evacuation. Officials of the Southern Railways reported that a passenger coach in the yard area caught fire and further details are awaited.

In a tragic incident involving a train in Madurai, a coach caught fire at Madurai Station. According to news agency PTI, as reported by the South Railways’ portal, the fire in an NHM passenger coach resulted in the deaths of 8 people and left 20 others injured.
Information received from the railway indicates that a private coach of the Punalur-Madurai Express caught fire in Madurai Yard at 5:15 AM, 15 minutes behind schedule. Firefighting services managed to bring the situation under control and no harm was done to other compartments.
Reason behind the fire outbreak
Southern Railways have disclosed the cause behind the train fire. According to the railway authorities, the fire started when a passenger attempted to clandestinely carry a gas cylinder onto the train. The railway authorities stated that passengers in the private party coach had issued an “unauthorized warning” to miscreants with gas, leading to the ignition of the fire.
The fire inside the coach was intense and proved to be a significant challenge to contain.
