G Marimuthu succumbed to a heart attack. This talented Tamil actor-director was recently seen in the blockbuster movie ‘Jailer,’ starring Rajinikanth. Film industry analyst and insider Ramesh Bala confirmed this news on Twitter, stating that G Marimuthu was 57 years old. He was also known for his role in the Tamil television series ‘Ethirneechal.’ He had worked as an assistant director alongside film producer Maniratnam and others.
Ramesh Bala tweeted, “Shocking: Popular Tamil character actor Mariamuthu passed away this morning due to a cardiac arrest… Recently, he had developed a massive fan following for his TV serial dialogues… May his soul rest in peace!” In another tweet, he said, “He was 57 years old…”
Marimuthu was rushed to the hospital
G Marimuthu reportedly collapsed around 8:30 a.m. on Friday during the dubbing of his TV serial ‘Ethirneechal’ in Chennai. According to a tweet by popular South Indian film industry insider Johnson, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
He tweeted, “Shocking…Actor-director Mariamuthu passed away this morning at 8.30 am due to a cardiac arrest. Rest in peace, Mariamuthu.” In another tweet, he mentioned, “It is confirmed that actor Marimuthu (58), who was dubbing for the ‘Ethirneechal’ serial this morning, suddenly became unconscious and was rushed to Surya Hospital nearby, where he passed away due to chest pain…”

Who Was G Marimuthu?
According to a report by One India, he had worked in over 50 films besides directing and acting in television shows. In 1990, G Marimuthu left his hometown of Theni and moved to Chennai with dreams of becoming a film director, initially working as a waiter in hotels. However, he eventually met lyricist Vairamuthu, and his career as an assistant director began, culminating in roles in films like ‘Aranmanai Kil’ (1993) and ‘Elaamein’ (1995) alongside director Raj Kiran. Marimuthu continued his career as an assistant director and collaborated with renowned film producers like Maniratnam, Vasanth, Seeman, and S.J. Surya. He also worked as a co-director in Silambarasan’s ‘Manmadhan.’
