Akshay Kumar upcoming film OMG 2 has been making headlines ever since the news broke that it will be subject to an additional inspection by the film censor board to avoid the criticism it received at the beginning of this year.
Amidst the unfolding news, an insider intimately tied to the production disclosed that the socially-driven comedic drama sailed through the evaluation process with no significant alterations needed, only minor adjustments. Additionally, the highly anticipated sequel, OMG 2, successfully attained an adult certification. The informant conveyed, “The film remains intact, with only a handful of alterations deliberated with the censor board representatives.
Speaking about the development, another close source to the project stated, “For the UA certification, the committee was demanding several cuts. The producers did not want to compromise the integrity of the film. Hence, they decided to go with it.” Despite adult certification, the film’s integrity will be maintained, respecting and adhering to the standards set by the censor board and giving them due respect.
OMG 2, after the modifications, will be an enjoyable experience for both auditory and visual audiences. One of the alleged changes includes Akshay Kumar’s character, who, in the final cut, will be portrayed not as a deity but as Lord Shiva’s messenger.
While the film awaited certification, it was earlier mentioned that the release date might be altered. For now, the original release date stands, and OMG 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on August 11. After the film’s teaser release last month, it was sent to the revising committee for certification.
OMG 2’s trailer has already been certified by the U/A but hasn’t been released yet. The film is a social comedy-drama starring Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam, and Arun Govil. It is written and directed by Amit Rai. It is the sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal’s 2012 film OMG – Oh My God.
The film’s first installment presented the story of Kanji Lalji Mehta (portrayed by Paresh Rawal), who files a case against God for his shop’s destruction during an earthquake. The movie also featured Mithun Chakravorty, Govind Namdev, and the late actor Om Puri in significant roles.
OMG 2 is set to release in theaters on August 11, 2023. It will clash with Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 at the box office. Previously, Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal was also slated to release on the same date. However, the producers recently announced that the film will now hit theaters in December.
