Sadiyo Mane, Anderson Talisca, and Cristiano Ronaldo, all found the net from behind in the game, while Al Raed received a consolation goal from Mohammad Fauzair in the form of a penalty kick.
Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo made his mark on Saturday as Al Nassr secured a 3-1 victory over Al Raed at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah, courtesy of Saudi Pro League.
Al Nassr took a modest lead at halftime as former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star Mane scored early in the extra time of the first half. Players headed to the tunnel after a red card was issued to Bander Veshehi from Al Raed, leaving them with 10 players.
Once the game resumed after halftime, Talisca doubled his team’s lead with an early goal in the 49th minute of the second half.
Ronaldo had not reached the scoresheet until the 78th minute, but the situation changed as the 38-year-old player went behind the net to put the ball past Al Raed’s custodian.
After the referee’s decision in favor of Al Raed, they pulled one back from the penalty spot due to Fauzair’s efforts.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Al Nassr, who had signed Ronaldo with them after his unofficial departure from English club Manchester United.
The relationship between Ronaldo and the English club soured when the Portuguese player had an explosive interview with journalist Piers Morgan, criticizing the way things were being handled in the prestigious and famous stadium.
Ronaldo’s arrival on Saudi shores has been followed by the heavy influx of several talented players like Neymar and Roberto Firmino, among others.
