Anupriya Goenka Web Series: Delhi’s sultan actress Anupriya Goenka talked about her character Shankari in the web series, saying, “She uses her S*xuality for her benefit.”
Anupriya Goenka, who is currently preparing for her upcoming web series ‘Sultan of Delhi,’ shared some insights about her character. The actress mentioned that her character, Shankari Devi, utilizes sensuality for her gain. Anupriya has previously appeared in major films such as “Tiger Zinda Hai,” “Padmaavat,” and recently discussed working with Hrithik Roshan in the film “War.”
The actress has now openly discussed the character of Delhi’s Sultan. She also mentioned that she had to delve deep into her character’s behaviour and nuances.
Based on Arnab Ray’s book “Sultan of Delhi: Ascension,” this series is directed by Milan Luthria and co-directed and co-written by Suparn Verma. Alongside Anupriya Goenka, it features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Anjum Sharma, and experienced actor Vinay Pathak, Nishant Dahhiya, Mouni Roy, Harleen Sethi, and Mehrin Peerzada.
‘Sultan of Delhi’ is set against the backdrop of the 1960s in India and showcases Anupriya Goenka portraying a strong-willed woman from an older era. She shared how she transformed herself into Shankari Devi.
Speaking about playing Shankari Devi, Anupriya Goenka said, “She’s a very sexy woman. I practised walking and sitting like her. She uses her sensuality for her benefit, and she owns it. I wanted to make her look beautiful too. The styling helped, and all credit goes to costume designers Jiya and Amrita. They were very enthusiastic and supportive.”
“Although there was a certain vision for Shankari by Milan Sir, he didn’t put any constraints on costumes and was open to experimenting as much as possible. He said that Shankari was one of his favourite characters. Embracing her style and not just wearing her clothes but living in them was very enjoyable. I think I need to transform myself from Anupriya to Shankari in terms of her appeal, her mannerisms, her mischievousness, and her grey shades, but I’m still enjoying it.”
‘Reliance Entertainment’ is producing ‘Sultan of Delhi,’ and it’s ready to stream on Disney+Hotstar from October 13th.
