Could Arivind Kejriwal Go to Jail Too

Could Arivind Kejriwal Go to Jail Too? Kejriwal claims to be summoned for an inquiry regarding the liquor scam by the Enforcement Directorate. Concerns have risen that he might face arrest like Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

Saurabh Bharadwaj, a senior minister in the Delhi government and a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, stated on Tuesday that if Arvind Kejriwal is arrested, his government will continue to function from within the prison walls. “He will run the government from jail and continue to provide free electricity, water, and health services to the people of Delhi,” he mentioned. With the Enforcement Directorate calling in Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in the liquor scam, fears have emerged that he might face arrest similar to Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.

Moreover, discussions have started on how the Delhi government would function if Arvind Kejriwal were to go to jail. Some individuals speculate that after Kejriwal’s potential imprisonment, he might delegate responsibilities to his wife. Others suggest that Raghav Chaddha or Atishi Marlena could be entrusted with the responsibility, as they are senior leaders of the party and are highly trusted by Arvind Kejriwal himself.

Kejriwal Avoiding the Issue: The BJP’s Claim

On the other hand, Saurabh Bharadwaj’s acceptance has caused a political storm. The BJP has accused Arvind Kejriwal of backtracking on his own words. Vishnu Mittal, the Vice President of the Delhi BJP, told Amar Ujala that Kejriwal used to say that if any leader is accused, they should resign. They should face the investigation and, upon being proven innocent, resume their duties. However, now that the time has come for his potential imprisonment, he is engaging in efforts to avoid resigning.

Vishnu Mittal mentioned that Kejriwal has a history of duplicity. He did not accept the resignation of his former health minister, Satyendra Jain, who was imprisoned in another scam. However, under public pressure, he eventually had to accept Jain’s resignation after a year. He stated that Arvind Kejriwal is accused not only of the liquor scam but also of corruption related to the construction of his residence. If there’s even a bit of political integrity left in him, he should immediately resign from his position.
