Cricket World Cup 2023 KL Rahul has chosen his favourite spinner for his most challenging bowler.
During the T20 World Cup in 2021, Shahin Afridi made headlines with his performance against India’s top batting lineup. It’s no secret that any clash between India and Pakistan grabs headlines, but KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma’s quick dismissals due to Pakistan’s bowling attack have become a new topic of discussion. However, the Indian batting star recently revealed the name of the bowler who troubled him the most.
During the India-Australia series, Rahul was asked about the bowler who caused him the most trouble, and he named Rashid Khan.
Rashid Khan, leading the Indian cricket team in the absence of Rohit Sharma in the ODI series on Australian home soil, is expected to lead India to victory in the World Cup. KL Rahul has expressed hope that the team will win the World Cup and relive the joy seen after India’s joint hosting of the World Cup in 2011. KL Rahul recalled that night when India won the World Cup and shared an anecdote.
“I was in Bangalore, watching the game with some friends. I remember when we lost two quick wickets, we all thought the game was over. Later, when we won, we drove through the busiest streets. Bangalore and this was a sight, everyone was jumping and celebrating. It was a proud moment for all of us Indians, and I hope we can recreate it for the people of our country,” he said during a Geo Cinema show.
KL Rahul played a match-winning half-century in the first ODI against Australia in Mohali on Saturday. India leads the series 1-0. He also spoke about his fitness after returning to the Indian team following an injury during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
“Everyone has seen me play in the Asia Cup. I have played all the games in Super Fours. I have batted behind the wickets and made runs, so I think the answer to this question is for all those who were worried about my fitness,” KL Rahul said, adding that he hopes to continue making strides in the next two months with the World Cup and the Australia series ahead.
“I knew that when I returned to the team, I would have to keep wickets and bat… Compared to that, there are many more physical challenges when I’m just batting. I knew this, so I worked hard on my fitness. Like cricketers, we know the challenges we will face on the field, and we try to double them in training and practice.”**
So, KL Rahul named Rashid Khan as the spinner who troubled him the most during a recent interview.
