Famed director Nitin Chandrakant Desai dies aged 57. Police are currently investigating the circumstances of his untimely death and more information on the cause of death is yet to be released. However, initial reports suggest it may have been a suicide. Official confirmation is awaited, however, as officials are expected to reveal more details.
His lifeless body was found in his study in ND on the morning of August 2nd.With a remarkable track record of four National Awards for Production Design, this exceptional artist has brilliantly crafted sets for critically acclaimed movies like Slumdog Millionaire and Kaun Banega Crorepati, while leaving a lasting impact on Bollywood with his artistry showcased in iconic films such as Lagaan, Jodha Akbar, Munnabhai MBBS, and Lage Raho Munna Bhai.
Maharashtrian legislator Mahesh Baldi confirmed Desai’s death, saying: “He was under financial pressure and this may be the only reason for his suicide.”
He received national awards for his work in films such as “Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, “Lagaan” and “Devdas”.

Not only did Nitin love Pallavi and me, but he also guided me through films that we didn’t do together. Why Nitin, why?” wrote film producer Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
