The OnePlus 12 is on its way, and there’s no doubt about it. The company confirmed the existence of its upcoming OnePlus flagship phone during the BOE Summit event held in China. It also announced its readiness to produce its latest OLED screen technology for the OnePlus 12.
Apart from giving us the first look at the flagship, OnePlus has confirmed details about the display and chipset of the upcoming OnePlus 12 smartphone.
A Sneak Peek at OnePlus 12
At the event, some models of the OnePlus 12 were showcased to display the output of the upcoming phone’s display. The back camera module was hidden since the device was placed on a case. OnePlus intends to keep the design under wraps and doesn’t want to reveal it before the launch event.
On the back, we can see a large square camera bump on the right and an alert slider. It appears that the display has very slim bezels all around. The volume and power buttons are placed on the other side of the device. On the front, you’ll likely see a punch-hole display design, similar to the previous model. In terms of design, other details have not yet been revealed.
Display and Certification
Speaking of the display, OnePlus claims that the upcoming OnePlus 12 will feature an “Oriental Screen” and the device will be equipped with Oppo’s first-generation display chip, Display P1, along with a high-resolution pixel-level calibration algorithm for better image quality. It promises quality, high brightness, and low power consumption. The flagship phone has received DisplayMate A+ certification, and the screen supports a 2K resolution. Although the display size is still unknown, leaked images suggest that the OnePlus 12 could maintain the 6.7-inch LTPO screen seen on the OnePlus 11. This aligns with the leaks.
The screen brightness peaks at 2,600 nits, which is slightly lower than the recently launched OnePlus Open, which boasts a brightness of 2,800 nits. However, the OnePlus 12 is expected to offer a more impressive display compared to flagship phones recently launched in India. The company also claims that the screen’s lifespan will be more than twice that of a typical display and will provide the “most eye-protective” screen experience.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Chipset
OnePlus 12 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, as confirmed by the company at the event. This supports all the previous claims made through leaks regarding the mysterious display and chipset. Additional details about OnePlus’ upcoming flagship phone have not been revealed yet. The company has not announced an official launch date.
