Gambhir‘s sizzling reaction: During the India vs. Afghanistan World Cup match in Delhi, Jasprit Bumrah showcased his best bowling performance in the World Cup, earning a serious response from the cricketing community.

Since his return to India after recovering from an injury, Jasprit Bumrah has been exceptional. On Wednesday, the premier fast bowler recorded his best World Cup figures, playing a crucial role in restricting Afghanistan to 272/8. At one point, it seemed like Afghanistan could reach 300, but Bumrah’s performance in Delhi was crucial.

Both his new and old ball deliveries were lethal. In his first three overs, he conceded only five runs and took a wicket. After hitting a beautiful outswinger for a boundary, Bumrah stylishly caught Ibrahim Zadran behind the wicket. Bumrah’s second spell was equally effective, although he struggled to take wickets. It was in his final spell that Bumrah wreaked havoc on the Afghan batsmen, taking three important wickets.

Former Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir had a strong reaction to Bumrah’s exceptional bowling performance. He described Bumrah as an “extraordinary” and “world-class” bowler and emphasized that Bumrah possesses a unique quality that sets him apart from others. Gambhir believed that Bumrah would be an X-factor for any team, whether it’s Chennai, Delhi, or any other franchise. It doesn’t matter which team he plays for; Bumrah consistently shines.

“He is an extraordinary player. He is an exceptional and world-class bowler. I have always said and will continue to say that Jasprit Bumrah will be an X-factor for any team, whether he plays for Chennai or Delhi, whether he bowls with a new ball or an old one. I haven’t seen many cricketers who can bowl brilliantly in any phase of the game and have a similar impact. Some bowlers excel with the new ball, some are effective in death overs, but Bumrah is someone who can do spectacular bowling everywhere,” Gambhir said.

Bumrah’s outstanding performance in the World Cup positions him among India’s best bowlers. Even though he may be lagging in the list, today’s performance hints at big things to come. In the 44th over of the innings, he dismissed both Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi in the same over, crushing mini Afghanistan. Bumrah’s subsequent and final over saw him dismiss the dangerous Rashid Khan, preventing Afghanistan from scoring less than 280.

“It’s not often that a captain goes to a fast bowler for success. Either he goes to a spinner with a bit of finger or wrist spin; this is how you measure the quality of a bowler. He brought India back on track because at one point it seemed like Afghanistan could reach 300, and that would have been a challenging score. The reason this didn’t happen was that Bumrah got Nabi out. He looked dangerous. As I said, he’s a very complete bowler,” added Gambhir.
