The Ministry of Finance has stated that this scheme will motivate citizens to ask for bills.
The ministry mentioned that this scheme will provide citizens with the opportunity to win ₹1 crore, ₹10 lakh, or ₹10,000 in a lucky draw.
The ministry stated that the scheme named ‘My Bill, My Right’ will begin in Haryana, Assam, Gujarat, and the Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, and Puducherry. It has been said that this scheme will provide citizens with the chance to win ₹1 crore, ₹10 lakh, or ₹10,000 in a lucky draw.
Registered GST vendors issuing invoices up to ₹200 will be eligible for the invoice lottery draw. The ministry mentioned that a consideration of up to 25 invoices per individual will be made each month.
This latest effort by tax authorities is aimed at enhancing GST compliance. Both central and state authorities have taken various steps previously to improve tax compliance, such as increasing reporting requirements and utilizing data analytics. This has aided in improving GST collection along with fostering healthy economic development. The central government and states have collected ₹1.65 trillion in July, which is the third-highest monthly collection since the implementation of GST in 2017.
