Kala Paani Web Series Review: For the special ‘Oraki Language’ created for the series ‘Kala Paani,’ viewers experienced something unique.
The director of the web series ‘Kala Paani’ is Sameer. In the 2015 film ‘Baahubali: The Beginning,’ the antagonist, Kalakeya, spoke in a different language that was hard to understand. In reality, the producers of Baahubali created a unique language for that antagonist, with characters and grammar entirely different.

“The Oraika indigenous community shown in the show is entirely fictional. There is no connection to the original indigenous tribes of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. For the story, we imagined the Oraika indigenous community from scratch, including their clothing, appearance, and even their language, which we created ourselves. Just as they created a different language for the antagonist in Baahubali, they also prepared a unique language for the indigenous people in this show. The language of the Oraika indigenous people is called Oraiki.”
“We even composed an entire song in the Oraiki language for the show. In this way, we have crafted an entirely new world for this indigenous community,” chuckled the team. The team has also created a small book-like resource in the Oraiki language, including the language’s words and grammar. Anyone can learn the Oraiki language from this book. Mona Singh, Amey Wagh, and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar play significant roles in the show.
