Mahadev betting app: The Enforcement Directorate recently filed an allegation letter in the Mahadev app case, naming the main promoters, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, among a total of 14 accused.

During accusations against the Mahadev betting app, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel questioned on Saturday why the Centre is not taking any action against its promoters. Speaking to journalists in Raipur, he characterized the ED’s press note on the investigation into betting as the BJP’s second election announcement.

In their press note, the Enforcement Directorate claimed “shocking allegations” from forensic analysis and a statement given by a ‘cash courier’ that the promoters of the Mahadev betting app had paid around ₹508 crores to the Chhattisgarh chief. This investigation remains ongoing. The ED also claimed to have seized ₹5.39 crore in cash from the courier, identified as Aseem Das.

“These (BJP) people can’t fight directly, so they have taken the support of the ED and the IT (Income Tax) for fighting elections,” said Baghel while responding to a question regarding the betting app case. The Congress leader mentioned that despite the lookout circular against the promoters of the Mahadev betting app, they have not been arrested.

Baghel said that accusations were made against them without any investigation. He expressed concern regarding the sequence of events, mentioning the ED’s arrival and subsequent arrest of the accused individuals from a hotel. He questioned the Election Commission’s actions and how the money reached its destination.

“The meaning of this is that the Prime Minister and his party members are associated with them directly. This is my direct accusation,” he added. The Enforcement Directorate recently filed an allegation letter in the Mahadev app case, naming the main promoters, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, among a total of 14 accused. “On a large scale, the proceeds of the betting operation are sent to foreign accounts.”

The agency had previously stated, “Cash is also being spent on necessary self-promotion in India to attract new users and franchisees (panels) for betting websites.” Elections will take place in two phases in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh in November, on the 7th and 17th.
