Manu, who participated in the Tokyo Olympic Games, scored 24 in the final and was eliminated in the shootout. Iran’s Haniyeh Rostamiyan stood second. China’s shooters secured the first, third, and fourth positions.

India’s Manu Bhaker earned the 11th quota for the Paris Olympics by securing the fifth position in the ongoing Asian Shooting Championship in Changwon, Korea, in the women’s 25-meter pistol competition. Although Manu competed in the Tokyo Olympics, scoring 24 in the final and being eliminated in the shootout, she claimed the 11th quota for the Paris Olympics. Haniyeh Rostamiyan of Iran secured the second position, while Chinese shooters claimed the first, third, and fourth positions.

Even though China could have received only one Olympic quota and Haniyeh had already secured a quota, Manu acquired the quota despite finishing in the fifth position. Manu stated, “My goal was to secure the quota because opportunities are now very limited. I’m happy to have received the quota, but a medal would have been even better.” India has so far obtained seven quotas in rifle, two in shotgun, and two in pistol shooting.

Manu, Isha, and Ridhima won a silver medal in the 25-meter pistol team event. Meanwhile, Divyansh Singh Panwar and Rimita Jindal won a silver medal in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event.

However, they lost in the final to the Chinese pair, 12-16. Simranpreet Kaur Bawar secured two silver medals in the junior women’s 25-meter pistol event. She won a silver medal in the team event with Meghna ES and Tejaswini. She then secured the second position in the individual category.
