Akshay Kumar is back with another action-packed adventure, and this time he’s taking on a coal mine rescue mission in “Mission Raniganj.” The movie is based on a real-life rescue mission that took place in Raniganj Coalfields in 1989, with Akshay Kumar playing the role of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill.

After the success of his last release, “OMG 2,” which became a box office hit, Akshay Kumar is returning to the big screen just one month later with the teaser for his upcoming film. “Mission Raniganj” is set to hit theaters on October 6th and will showcase the heroic story of Jaswant Singh Gill, a renowned mining engineer.

The producers unveiled the teaser on Thursday, giving us a glimpse into the challenges faced by Jaswant in the mission.

What’s in the Teaser?

The teaser reveals that the real-life story unfolded in the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989 when 65 miners got trapped in a mine after an unexpected flood. Most had been presumed dead before mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill arrived, promising to rescue them, even though only one miner out of the 65 was known to be alive.

Akshay shared the teaser on Instagram, captioning it, “In 1989, a man showed courage and unwavering faith that saved many lives! #MissionRaniganj teaser out now. Watch the story of India’s true hero with #MissionRaniganj in cinemas on October 6th.”

Akshay Kumar First Sikh Role Since Kesari

Akshay is seen in a turbaned look, wearing glasses, a simple cotton shirt, and t-shirt. He is portraying a Sikh character for the first time since his 2019 war film “Kesari.” In “Kesari,” he depicted the real-life story of Havildar Ishar Singh, who led 21 Sikh soldiers against 10,000 invaders during the Battle of Saragarhi in 1897. Interestingly, Parineeti Chopra, who starred alongside Akshay in “Kesari,” is also a part of “Mission Raniganj.” In the teaser, she is seen in white attire, her hair tied back, with a worried expression.
