Prime Minister PM Vishwakarma Yojana will be entirely funded by the central government. A budget of 13,000 crores has been allocated for this. Under this scheme, individuals will receive skill development through both basic and advanced training.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kickstart the “PM Vishwakarma” scheme around 11 AM on September 17th, symbolizing his 73rd birthday. The aim is to enhance the skills of artisans, making it easier for them to access loans and creating a transformative impact in their lives. Marketing support will also be provided.

“We are continually striving for the prosperity of our skilled brothers and sisters who play a vital role in our social life. In this series, tomorrow, on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, we will have the privilege to launch ‘PM Vishwakarma.’ This scheme will not only enhance the skills of artisans and craftsmen across the country but will also give a new identity to items crafted by our family members worldwide,” Modi wrote on September 16.

This program will take place at the India International Convention Center (IICC) in Dwarka.

The PM Vishwakarma scheme, with a budget of 13,000 crores, will be entirely funded by the central government. Under this scheme, individuals will receive skill development through both basic and advanced training. Additionally, they will be provided a toolkit incentive of 15,000 rupees. Subsidized interest rates of 5% will be given, and collateral-free credit assistance up to 1 lakh rupees in the first installment and up to 2 lakh rupees in the second installment will also be provided. Encouragement will also be given for digital transactions and marketing activities.

PM Modi initiated this scheme during his Independence Day address, and the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has allocated 13,000 crores for its implementation. The objective of this scheme is to benefit traditional artisans and craftsmen, and it will be applicable for five financial years from 2023-24 to 2027-28.

“The Prime Minister has consistently focused on supporting people engaged in traditional crafts. This focus is not only inspired by the desire to provide economic support to artisans and craftsmen but also to keep alive and prosperous the centuries-old tradition, culture, and diverse heritage through local products, art, and craft,” said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

PM Modi will inaugurate the first phase of the renowned Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD) in Dwarka, New Delhi, on September 17. He will also dedicate the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express Line, connecting Dwarka Sector 21 to a newly built metro station in Dwarka Sector 25.
