Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his role in the film ‘Sam Bahadur.’ The cast and producers released the much-anticipated trailer for the film on Tuesday. In this period film, Vicky portrays the charismatic war hero Sam Manekshaw, and Fatima Sana Shaikh plays the role of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Earlier this Monday, Vicky Kaushal posted on Instagram a new poster stating, “This is the story of a man who devoted his life to the Indian Army, dedicated to the nation. The trailer will be released tomorrow! ‘Sam Bahadur’ in cinemas on December 1, 2023.” The poster features Vicky Kaushal in army uniform, walking among his soldiers lined up in formation.
The Sam Bahadur trailer is based on the teaser released last month, portraying Vicky Kaushal breathing life into every inch of India’s first Field Marshal. It showcases him taking a firm stance against several high-profile leaders, including the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, while conversing with his fellow soldiers. The film is set in the late 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s.
More about the film ‘Sam Bahadur’ will hit cinemas on December 1. It has been written by Bhavani Iyer, Shantanu Srivastava, and Meghna Gulzar. The film, shot in various locations including Punjab, Kashmir, and Delhi, is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies, which previously backed Vicky Kaushal blockbuster ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ in 2019. ‘Sam Bahadur’ will clash at the box office with ‘Animal,’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
‘Sam Bahadur’ is based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw. His career spanned four decades and five wars in the army. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. He led India to victory in the 1971 India-Pakistan war, leading to the creation of Bangladesh. ‘Sam Bahadur’ also stars Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick, Richard Bhakti Klein, Saqib Ayub, and Krishna Kant Singh Bundela in significant roles.
