In addition to his present position as Tesla’s Chief Accounting Officer, Vaibhav Taneja has been appointed as the company’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). According to reports, this announcement comes after the departure of Zachary Kirkhorn, Tesla’s Master of Coin and former CFO, for the past four years.
Aged 45, Taneja has been working as Tesla’s CFO since March 2019. He was also appointed as a director of Tesla’s Indian subsidiary, Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited, in January 2021.
A commerce graduate from Delhi University, Taneja joined Tesla from SolarCity in 2017, a solar energy company acquired by Tesla in 2016. He initially worked as Vice President and later as Corporate Controller, leading the successful integration of both companies’ accounting teams.
Prior to this, as per his LinkedIn profile, the 45-year-old individual worked in Prise water house Coopers between July 1999 and March 2016, both in India and the United States.
He has over 17 years of experience working with global firms in the technology, retail, and telecommunications sectors. He is a specialist in conducting cross-border commerce.
