MK Stalin’s son Udhayanidhi Stalin has argued that ‘Sanatan Dharma’ was against the principles of social justice and should be eradicated.

The Tamil Nadu Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development stated that he stands by his words and is “ready to face any legal challenge” after his comment sparked political controversy around “Sanatan.”

Addressing a conference organized by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association on Saturday in Chennai on the subject of ‘Debunking Sanatan,’ Udhayanidhi Stalin argued that Sanatan was against social justice and needed to be eliminated.

News agency ANI reported him saying, “I thank the organizers of this conference for providing me the opportunity to give a special speech. You have named the conference ‘Sanatan Opposing Conference’ instead of ‘Sanatan Eradication Conference,’ and I appreciate it.” He said this in reference to a change in the conference’s title.

“Some things cannot be opposed; they should be eliminated. We cannot oppose diseases like dengue, mosquitoes, malaria, or COVID. We have to eradicate them, just like we need to eradicate Sanatan, instead of opposing it,” he emphasized.

Furthermore, responding to a post by Amit Malviya, the IT cell chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Udhayanidhi clarified that he had never called for violence against those who follow Sanatan Dharma.

“Sanatan Dharma is a belief that divides people on the basis of caste and religion. Eradicating Sanatan Dharma is necessary to uphold humanity and equality. I stand firm on every word I’ve said. I’ve spoken on behalf of the oppressed and those living on the margins who suffer because of Sanatan Dharma,” the DMK leader wrote on Twitter.

“I am ready to face any legal challenge that comes my way, be it in a court of law or in the court of public opinion. Stop spreading false news,” he retorted to Malviya.

In another tweet, Udhayanidhi reiterated his readiness to face any legal challenge.

“Bring it on. I am prepared to face any legal challenge. We will not be afraid of such baseless threats. We, the followers of Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar, will always fight for social justice and the establishment of an egalitarian society under the capable guidance of our CM MK Stalin. I say it today, tomorrow, and always: Our resolve to stop Sanatan Dharma in Dravidian land will not waver,” Udhayanidhi wrote.

Turning the tables, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief Annamalai accused the Gopalapuram family of accumulating more wealth than the state GDP.

“You, your father, or your ideologues bought ideas from Christian missionaries and were supposed to prepare the ground for people like you to propagate your divisive ideology. Tamil Nadu is the land of spirituality. The best thing you can do is pick up a mic in such programs and remove your frustration,” Annamalai said in a tweet.

Udhayanidhi Stalin praised the ‘Dravidian Model’ on Friday.

On Friday evening, Udhayanidhi participated in a sports program where he met Manipuri athletes affected by violence. Praising his father, he said, “The best difference between the Aryan and Dravidian models can be seen here.”

Speaking to ANI, Udhayanidhi said, “We are providing all facilities to Manipuri swordsmen in Tamil Nadu. They feel safe here and are practicing for the upcoming Khelo India Games. There is a difference between Manipur’s Aryan model and Tamil Nadu’s Dravidian model.”
