Wife Accuses Shikhar Dhawan

Wife Accuses Shikhar Dhawan: In a recent court decision, the Delhi High Court granted a divorce to cricketer Shikhar Dhawan based on allegations of “cruelty” made by his former wife Ayesha Dhawan.

Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee got married in 2012 and have a 10-year-old son named Zoravar Dhawan. Both Ayesha and Zoravar are Australian citizens. Ayesha was previously married and has two daughters from her first marriage.

Family Court Judge Harish Kumar accepted the allegations made by Shikhar Dhawan against his wife because he claimed that he was incapable of proving them false. The judge stated that Shikhar Dhawan had to endure mental anguish caused by his wife, who had coerced him into a “long-distance marriage” in Australia due to her commitment to her career and kept him away from their son for years.

What the Court Said During the Divorce: “Mr Dhawan has suffered a lot of pain.” In his petition, Shikhar Dhawan claimed that Ayesha had promised to come to India to live with him because he was unable to move to Australia due to his cricketing commitments. However, shortly thereafter, she reversed her decision and declined to relocate, citing the necessity of handing over custody of her two daughters from her previous marriage to her ex-husband as a reason.

“She (Dhawan) endured significant pain and suffering for years without any wrongdoing. Although the wife denied the allegations and said that she did indeed want to live with him in India, she did not choose to dispute the claims. By behaving in this manner, the defendant subjected the petitioner to so much cruelty, suffering, and harm that saving the marriage was impossible,” the court stated.

Payment for Child Support and Property Sale, Coercion Alleged Shikhar Dhawan also alleged that Ayesha had forced him into becoming the owner of three properties purchased by the cricketer in Australia. She was the sole owner of one property and co-owned the other two.

The court ruled that Ayesha had failed to prove that she did not coerce Shikhar Dhawan into becoming the owner of the properties and had also contributed financially to their purchase. The court stated, “The defendant needed to prove whether the properties were purchased with her funds or if her name was included out of love and affection. In this manner, Dhawan’s allegation that he was coerced to some extent into making him an owner of all three properties or that it was stated that ‘income earned from my pocket should be considered true’ must be accepted.”

The Court Grants Shikhar Dhawan‘s Rights to Meet His Son The court has now granted Shikhar Dhawan the right to mandatory meetings with his son in both India and Australia. It ordered Ayesha to bring their son to India for overnight stays and meetings during school holidays, providing Shikhar Dhawan with an opportunity to spend quality time with him.
